Dokonca tam ide výťah a hore ani nefúka, sú tam okná so sklom.

Do toho všetkého nám krásne snežilo. Večer nás čakalo predstavenie How to become Icelandic in 60 minutes. Bolo to vtipné a v angličtine :D Rozhodne odporúčam!

A samozrejme pach síry. Potom som si už len užívala to teplo…

Nerobte to.

—————————————————————————————————————-

Right after arrival we noticed that water really smells :D Especially the one from tap. They use the already hot geothermal water and don’t do anything to it, it’s not bad. This doesn’t mean it’s drinkable. Only cold water is drinkable, which tastes really great. Also during our first evening, our host told us that we shouldn’t die and other stories.

Next day we went for a walk in downtown Reykjavík. We climbed the tower in Halgrímskirkja, where is a great view. There is a lift and there is no wind upstairs, because there are windows with glass. After that you can go up the stairs to windows without glass, where you have wind and cold. For lunch we had great fish with vegetables in nearby restaurant. After that we just walked randomly, Funous was hacking portals, we bought a souvenir (a painting from a local painter) and so on.

On Monday we went snorkelling. You can snorkel in a fissure between european and american plate in a lake with glacier water. Yes, it’s cold. We dressed in a drysuit and were prepared to go in the water. By then my fingers were frozen too much, pain like hell, so I didn’t go. Limit was 45kg, I have 48kg and it wasn’t enough. I tried to warm my toes directly on heating in a car and even after half an hour I couldn’t feel half of my toes. And fingers on my hands hurt until next day. But at least Funous managed to go and made some gopro videos under water :)

For Tuesday I had planned a work interview :D I did it before lunch and then we went for a walk in downtown again. This time we saw Harpa, which is a building with a lot of halls – concert, theatre etc. We walked on old harbour, visited whales museum where they have lifesized plastic whales. And during all that I was deciding if I want to work for Siemens or for Y Soft :)

Wednesday morning was somehow slow, so our first steps outside of the house lead directly to lunch :D Then we went to Mount Esja, where we walked in the forest. Funous saw probably an owl :D It was for a short time, it was big and white-ish :D

For Thursday we did another walk through Reykjavík, this time going to Perlan. There is a very nice view. Then we continued through a small forest to heated beach with hauled sand. During the whole time it snowed beautifully. In the evening we went to see How to become Icelandic in 60 minutes. It was funny and in english :D Definitely recommended!

On Friday we went on Golden Circle. With rented car we had to freedom to make stops whenever and wherever we wanted. First we stopped in the fissure between european and american plate and went to see the Öxarárfoss waterfall, which almost wasn’t visible under the ice. For lunch we stopped at Laugarvatn Fontana, which is thermal swimming pool next to a lake and geothermal spring. Water in the lake was comfortably warm and on the bank several small springs were bubbling and there were a lot of signs telling us to not touch the boiling water :D And of course the smell of sulphur everywhere. We were so excited ^_^ Next stop was geysir field, where there is famous Geysir, which is no longer active. Right next to it is Strokkur, which is active every 10 minutes. We saw it explode a few times. I have to say that when I saw it for the first time, my breath stopped and I was in awe of what nature can do. In this field there is a lot of springs, geysirs and small lakes. And smell of sulphur of course. Next stop wasn’t planned, but I couldn’t stop myself. Some tourists were petting icelandic horses, so I had to join them ^_^ Proof is on gopro. Horses are cute, small, fluffy and everything ^_^ Then we continued to Gulfoss waterfall, which is huge. It is two waterfall above each other, they are quite wide and quite high. Thanks to several platforms we could see them from several angles. They looked the most huge from the lower parking lot. By then it was almost dark, so we decided to head home with a stop to bathe. Plan was to go to Secret lagoon and hope that sky will clear and northern lights will happen. We found the Secret lagoon, although the road there was questionable, but the second part didn’t happen, no northern lights. Bathing was awesome anyway. At first my toes almost boiled, but the feeling went away after a while. Then I just enjoyed the warmth… and put my feet up in the air from water, because it was too warm :D It was beautiful, mist raising from the water, greenhouse shining and somewhere in the dark and mist was allegedly a geysir, which is supposed to be visible from pool. It wasn’t :D

On Saturday we went to Keflavík, to see some other Icelandic town and eat there. Don’t do that. Keflavík during winter weekend is basically dead, there is only some fastfood (hotdogs, pizza and KFC) or a really expensive restaurant. At the end we found some chinese food, but it wasn’t much either. Then we tried to find our way to beach, but we got lost in the neighbourhood. We eventually gave up and went to the airport.

First shower after arriving back in UK was weird, it didn’t smell :D
